Looking To Jump Straight To Adopting a Boxer Dog?
There are 9 simple steps to adopting a rescued boxer for your family. Go through all of the steps thoroughly so that you can be on your way to adopt a rescued boxer.
Step 1: Boxer Dog List - Check out the boxer dog availability list to find a boxer puppy you’re interested in. On that page you can find dozens of boxer dogs that are currently available for adoption, and you can also see the boxer dogs that already found themselves a nice new household.
Step 2: Application – If you’re really interested in rescuing a boxer puppy, fill out an application form that will ask you the information needed to find the most suitable boxer for you. The Adapt a Boxer Rescue group will contact you within a few weeks and inform you whether they found a suitable boxer for you. If there was no boxer found suitable depending on your application, the Adopt a Boxer Rescue group will contact you when they do get a boxer puppy that suits your needs best. Rescued boxer dogs are available for adoption in much of the Northeast USA area including Connecticut CT, Delaware DE, Maine ME, Maryland MD, New Hampshire NH, New Jersey NJ, New York NY, Pennsylvania PA, Rhode Island RI, and Vermont VT.
Step 3: Home Visit – An Adopt a Rescue Boxer volunteer will come to your house (possibly with a dog, not necessarily the boxer dog you want) to make sure you have the physical location that’s suitable for a rescued boxer puppy.
Step 4: Finding the Right Boxer – If you have a lot of requirements for a boxer dog that you wish to rescue, it may be more difficult to match yours. At this point, the Adopt a Boxer Rescue team will do their best to find the best suitable boxer for your household circumstances so that both you and the boxer can meet your needs.
Step 5: Getting Your Boxer – A fun and exciting day for you as you’re going to finally receive your boxer. The Adopt a Rescue Boxer volunteers drive and deliver boxer dogs whenever it’s absolutely necessary, but if it’s not, please come and pick the boxer puppy up from the rescue center if it’s not too much to ask. After all, you will be spending the next 10-12 years with your boxer dog so a few hours shouldn’t be much of a problem.
Step 6: Sign an Adoption Contract – This is where all the legal paperwork takes place to give you ownership of the boxer dog. You will also have to agree to treat the boxer dog nicely and return him back if you don’t want him.
Step 7: Adoption Fee – There’s an adoption fee of $375 for most adult boxer dogs. Higher fees may apply for boxer puppies.
Step 8: Preparing Your Home - Prepare your home for your new rescued boxer puppy by setting aside a place for your boxer puppy to sleep, buy few different kinds of dog snacks and food to see what your puppy prefers more, get toys, and make it as pleasant for your puppy as possible.
Step 9: Move In – Bring your puppy home and enjoy your new member of the family. It should take a few weeks to a few months for your boxer puppy to finally feel at home. Your training should start as soon as possible.
If you decided to adopt a rescued boxer you will be loved and thanked by your boxer for the rest of their life. Boxer dogs are really one of the greatest dogs that you can adopt. They are loving and friendly with strangers, but won’t let anyone mess around with his family. Getting great pleasure from their masters, they aren’t too difficult to train and really, they can be as good as your best friend.
